Location:
Hybrid | Baltimore, Maryland-based (minimum 2 days/week in-office, 4 hours/day)
Position Summary:
ACEE is seeking TWO proactive, detail-oriented Part-Time Assistants to support both Career Services and Student Life Programming for international students, particularly those from Chinese-speaking backgrounds. This hybrid role is ideal for someone passionate about student development, cultural exchange, and community building. The assistant will help coordinate career-related support and lead social engagement initiatives, including networking events, professional workshops, and cultural/social activities designed to foster belonging and holistic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized career support such as resume and cover letter reviews, LinkedIn setup, and job search guidance
Coordinate and staff student-centered events, including networking mixers, cultural celebrations, and community-building programs
Serve as a point of contact for international students, offering culturally responsive support, especially for Mandarin-speaking participants
Assist with the planning, logistics, and execution of both professional development and social events
Maintain accurate records of student engagement, career appointments, and event participation
Assist with the creation and distribution of promotional materials for events and services (flyers, social media posts, newsletters)
Manage scheduling, registration forms, RSVP tracking, and email communications
Provide in-office support twice weekly (4 hours per day) and attend virtual/in-person events as needed
Requirements:
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written)
Familiarity with career development tools such as resume/cover letter writing, LinkedIn optimization, and job search strategy
Experience with event planning or community programming, preferably in educational or nonprofit settings
Bachelor's degree or active enrollment in a related field (Education, Counseling, International Studies, Student Affairs, etc.)
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficient with Google Workspace, Canva, Zoom, and related tools
Demonstrated cultural awareness and comfort working with diverse student populations
Maryland residency with the ability to be on-site a minimum of 2 days per week
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in higher education, student support services, or career advising
Experience planning or facilitating student events and workshops
Understanding of the international student experience
Additional language skills beyond Mandarin are a plus
Knowledge of Johns Hopkins University and its student resources
Compensation:
Part-time salaried position: Based on experience
Approximately 15–20 hours per week, including 8 in-office hours
Professional Development Stipend of $500 per year
