A Sweet Day of Thrills and Laughter at Hershey Park
On June 14, BRIDGES students enjoyed a full day of adventure, bonding, and chocolate at the iconic Hershey Park. From the moment we arrived, the park’s energy was infectious. Roller coasters roared, laughter echoed, and excitement filled the air. Despite the forecast, the rain held off, giving us the perfect chance to explore every part of the park without interruption.
Hershey Park was founded in 1906 by Milton S. Hershey, the American chocolatier and philanthropist behind the Hershey Chocolate Company. Originally created as a leisure space for employees of the Hershey factory and their families, the park began as a modest picnic and recreation area. Over the decades, it expanded into a full-scale amusement park with thrilling rides, themed areas, and entertainment attractions. Today, Hershey Park is one of Pennsylvania’s most popular destinations, drawing visitors from around the world who come for its roller coasters, zoo, and of course, its connection to all things chocolate.
The cool breeze in the air may have kept us from diving into the water park, but that only gave us more time to enjoy the heart-racing rides and charming zoo. For many students, this was their first experience at an American amusement park, and the joy on their faces was unmistakable. One of the highlights was Chocolate World, where we hopped on the chocolate-making ride and laughed our way through a fun look at how Hershey’s famous treats are made.
As always, the day wasn’t just about the attractions. What made it truly special was the sense of community. Students spent the day sharing snacks, comparing favorite rides, and creating inside jokes that will last well beyond the summer. From 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., the group stayed energized and connected. It was a reminder that the best memories often come when you least expect them.
To top it all off, a surprise moment on the way home kept everyone on their toes. A deer suddenly darted across the road, giving us all a jolt of adrenaline. Thankfully, everyone was safe, and it became just another story to laugh about later.
Days like this capture what the ACEE experience is all about. Exploring new places, forming lasting friendships, and learning to feel at home in a new environment. Whether it’s your first roller coaster or your first bite of American chocolate, every moment becomes part of your story here.
